Temporary Full Time
Salary Range: $46.96 - $58.70 /hour
This temporary full-time position is expected to extend until March 31, 2027, (with potential for renewal), subject to program continuation.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Susan M. McNair in the role of the "Research Associate 3". This position will assist the Department of Family Medicine.
Responsibilities may include providing research project oversight under direction of the Principal Investigator; Developing research strategies and plans in conjunction with the Principal Investigator; providing project direction to research staff and students, leading the development of proposals/grant preparation, REB submissions, SOP's, protocols and regulatory activities; leading the process of providing research design, literature reviews; and analysis, report writing and academic reporting.
Responsibilities may include leading a research project(s); Responsible for developing research strategies and plans and taking scientific responsibility for the integrity and timelines of the project. Ensures that the project and all work conducted is adhering to the research protocols and regulatory requirements. Provides clinical and technical knowledge and supports independent research. Oversees the recruitment and provides oversight to research staff and students.
This is a 5 day (37.5 hours) per week position.
The incumbent will maintain certification in:
CPR training
WHMIS training
Shipping of Dangerous Goods training
Essential Qualifications
- PhD in biostatistics/epidemiology or equivalent education and experience
- 5 years' experience required
- Experience designing and conducting a wide range of medical/health related research projects.
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
- Strong knowledge of ethics research policies and processes
- Working knowledge of Regulatory/REB requirements
- Prior experience in preparing ethics applications and study-start up.
- Experience with a database such as REDCap and statistical software
- Knowledge of regional and internal funding opportunities
- Academic writing skills by contributing to manuscripts, protocols, proposals, grant applications
- Knowledge mobilization, quality improvement and program evaluation experience preferred.
- Ability to manage a highly varied portfolio, with multiple stakeholders, projects, and timelines.
- Understanding of large population based for health services research.
- Strong biostatistical analytic methods relevant to health science research.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and balance multiple projects to meet project deadlines.
- Leadership, training, and mentoring skills
- Familiarity with LHRI policies and procedures an asset
- Demonstrated ability to lead and work in teams, e.g. including faculty, staff, students and residents.
- Experience with soliciting funds and contributions from corporations, foundations and individuals
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
