The United Way Elgin Middlesex Sponsored Employee Program is a unique, fast-paced professional development opportunity for community-minded individuals, to join the United Way fundraising team for 16 weeks during the fall campaign, learning new skills and increasing connection to the community, while retaining their regular salary, benefits and employer support.
A team of Sponsored Employees, from a broad range of sectors and experiences, comes together each year with experienced United Way staff as a team with a common cause: providing practical support for over 500 workplace campaigns to secure the resources necessary to support more than 40 essential local programs and help over 65,000 local people in need. If that sounds like a challenge, you would like to undertake - your talent and passion are just what we need!
The ideal candidate will be community-minded, open to new experiences, good at problem solving, diligent, motivated, collaborative, have good time management skills, be comfortable with a hybrid working model, and be happy in a busy, fast-paced, dynamic work environment. This year’s program starts August 25th and runs to December 12th 2025.
Participants receive 2 weeks of training in communication, storytelling, project management, database skills, and fundraising techniques, as well as ongoing coaching, and 1:1 mentoring. We have a proven track record for providing participants with the skills, experience and support you need to enhance your own career, take on leadership roles, and strengthen your connection with your community.
Essential Qualification:
•Current employee of St. Joseph’s Health Care London
Responsibilities:
•Act as ambassadors for United Way at workplaces and in the community
•Provide support to workplace volunteers and fundraising campaigns, including your own St Joseph's Share the spirit Campaign.
•Create engaging materials and deliver impactful presentations
•Plan and execute community events and fundraising activities
•Promote United Way messages, events and impact with local businesses to drive engagement
•Deliver presentations, speaking on behalf of United Way, to groups of all sizes
•Assist with the planning, execution, sponsorship and promotion of community events
•Monitor and track progress, provide feedback, collect data, and complete final report

Additional details:
•Duration: Full-time secondment from August 25 to December 12, 2025

Teaching and Research
St. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. As an employee of St. Joseph's, you will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties
Immunization Requirements
Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
