Children's Hospital - Led Paediatric Urgent Care Clinic
Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced and autonomous Nurse Practitioner to join our team. In this role, the Nurse Practitioner will serve as the Most Responsible Provider (MRP), delivering comprehensive care through both the in-person and Virtual Care Clinic. This position is dedicated to supporting NP -Led paediatric urgent care Clinic within a collaborative practice model alongside Emergency Department physician partners. The successful candidate will demonstrate clinical leadership, advanced decision-making skills, and a strong commitment to patient- and family-centered care, with responsibilities including:
- Enhancing access and patient flow by working to full scope of practice, with a focus on preventing unnecessary Emergency Department visits and reducing the length of stay when ED visits are required.
- Providing education, counselling, and ongoing support to patients, families, and other care providers.
- Prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests and imaging, making specialist referrals, and coordinating care across multiple subspecialties.
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a self-directed nurse prepared at the graduate/post-graduate level, who functions in an expanded nursing role demonstrating an elevated level of autonomy, working to full scope, both independently and within a collaborative practice model. The NP demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge base and high degree of clinical competence in acute and chronic disease management. The NP works collaboratively with key stakeholders to provide advanced care that optimizes patient outcomes and enhances safety, effectiveness, and accessibility. Reporting to the Director, the NP will provide direct and indirect patient care, promote professional education, commit to ongoing program development and advance knowledge through research and scholarly activities.
All duties and responsibilities of the NP conform to professional practice standards of the London Health Sciences Centre guidelines.

Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
- Current registration in the extended class in Paediatrics or Primary Care, and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum 3 years recent nursing experience with a clinical focus in primary or acute paediatric care required
- Current member of the Nurse Practitioner's Association of Ontario (NPAO) or Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
- Mandatory Current Professional Liability Protection
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP (C), ACLS preferred
- Valid Driver's License (G class) with the ability to travel within the South-West LHIN
- Well-developed clinical reasoning skills and ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in clinical practice, education, program development and research
- Ability to function in an inter-disciplinary faced-paced health care environment
- Recent experience in an NP scope of practice
- Ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues and therapeutic relationships with patients and families
- Recent experience collaborating with external agencies and community partners preferred
- Expertise in critical thinking, clinical problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution
- Effective organizational, conceptual and leadership skills
