The 8 Inpatient Unit within Surgical Services supports patient-centred care in a variety of specialties including General Surgery, Plastics, Urology, ENT, Dentistry, GI and Hepatology.  On this 60 bed unit the Registered Nurse acts as member of the multi-disciplinary team to advocate, plan and provide care for patients and their families in a medium to high acuity setting.

Regular Full Time & Regular Part Time positions available

Rate of Pay: $39.07 per hour - $56.00 per hour

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course:  BLS-HCP(C) for which you can provide proof upon request
• Current experience in surgical care preferred
• Minimum one year recent acute nursing experience preferred
• Current experience with PCA/Epidural certification, venipuncture and I.V. starts preferred
• Current demonstrated knowledge of general surgical nursing principles
• Demonstrated excellent assessment and technical skills, and proven problem solving and decision making ability
• Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication skills and a high level of initiative
• Proven ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education within the profession
• Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a busy environment
• Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

• Immunization Requirements:  
• Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 
• Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;  
• Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);  
• Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
