Salary Range: $38.80 - $39.19 /hour


An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Practical Nurse to provide services within the Otolaryngology - Head, Neck and Facial Plastic Surgery clinic at St. Joseph's Hospital as a valued member of a collaborative, interprofessional team.
This specialized area of ambulatory surgery provides care to patients with diseases and conditions requiring, but not limited to, rhinolaryngoscopic procedures, biopsies, minor procedures, post op wound care, and clinical follow up.
The RPN will provide best patient care before, during and after each patient appointment with responsibilities that include assisting with laboratory data entry and cytology/pathology specimen collection and labeling.
The Otolaryngology - Head, Neck and Facial Plastic Surgery clinic is a fast-paced environment that requires the RPN to be able to prioritize tasks and patients appropriately, demonstrate an eagerness and commitment to learning new skills and display effective communication and collaborative skills within an interprofessional team to achieve results.

Essential Qualifications

  • Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Successful completion of a nursing competency test
  • Experience and knowledge of conditions, pathology and nursing care needs of Otolaryngology
  • Proficiency and experience in pharmacology and medication administration
  • Demonstrated competence in wound care
  • Knowledge of safety culture in a health care setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Demonstrate ability to work to full scope of practice
  • Ability to establish positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrate excellent decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset
  • Recent surgical experience
  • Recent experience working in an ambulatory clinic setting
  • Recent experience working in otolaryngology

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and Hepatitis B
  • Provide documentation of Tuberculosis skin testing
