Cancer Care Adult In-Patient

Cancer Care Adult Inpatient is the adult oncology inpatient unit of the London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP). Care consists of assessment and treatment including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, brachytherapy, radioisotope therapy, blood and bone marrow transplantation, symptom management and some palliation.

Regular Full-Time & Part Time

Rate of Pay: $39.07 per hour - $56.00 per hour

 

Qualifications

 
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course:  BLS-HCP(C) for which you can provide proof upon request
  • Minimum two years recent experience in acute care/medical/surgical nursing
  • Current experience (within the last two years) in acute care medical, radiation, and haematology, adult oncology nursing preferred
  • Certification in Oncology Nursing through CNA or ONS preferred
  • Certification with de Souza Provincial Standard Chemo Therapy and Biotherapy preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in administration of chemotherapy and safe handling of cytotoxic agents within the past 2 years preferred
  • Demonstrated effective clinical skills
  • Demonstrated competence in cancer symptom management and nursing management of oncological emergencies
  • Demonstrated effective patient/family teaching skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to patient-centred care
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to constantly changing and unpredictable situations
  • Demonstrated evidence of commitment to self-directed learning
  • Demonstrated effective communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to interact with others in a respectful manner as defined in the LHSC Code of Conduct
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care

Immunization Requirements:

  • Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;  
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);  
  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
