Occupational Therapist-Medicine VH

The Occupational Therapist is accountable for providing Occupational Therapy services to the acute and sub-acute medicine units at Victoria Hospital. The Occupational Therapist will provede collaborative, evidence informed practice to inpatient with a range of acute conditions working closely with other Occupation Therapists, Occupational Therapists Assistants, and other members of the healthcare team. The Occupational Therapist reports directly to the Manager, Occupational Therapy.

Temporary Full Time

Rate of Pay:               $42.55  per hour - $53.18 per hour

Hours of Work:           37.50 hours per week

Duration:                     Up to 18 months

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited University Program with a Baccalaureate Degree (Honours) or a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
• Current membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and/or the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists preferred
• Clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of a broad range of acute medical conditions in adults preferred
• Demonstrated experience in clinical interviewing and psychotherapy skills
• Skilled at crisis intervention and assessment
• Expertise in providing treatment within a group modality
• Expertise in providing individual mental health treatment
• Experience in clinical teaching and ability to supervise.train student in occupational therapy
• Demonstrated competencied in interpersonal relations, communication (verbal and written), problem-solving, initiative, sound judgement, innovative practice and ethical desicion-making
• Strongly developed spirit of inquiry and interest in furthering evidence informed practice
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as an interdisciplinary team member
• Demonstrated competence in organization skills and effective time management
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, purpose and values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:  

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 

• Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;  

• Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);  

• Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
