Core Occupational Therapist
Reporting to the Manager of Health Disciplines, Occupational Therapists (OTs) assess a person's cognitive, physical and emotional functioning through performance of specific tasks. OTs provide interventions to prevent, treat or minimize functional impairment(s), to determine the patient's readiness for safe discharge, and enhance skills in daily living, work and the performance of leisure activities. The OT works with patients and families, and the interprofessional team to directly and indirectly care for inpatient programs. Shifts include Monday through Friday, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Regular Part-Time
Rate of Pay: $54.93 per hour - $68.67 per hour
Hours of Work: No guarantee of hours, weekends may be required
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited University Program with a Baccalaureate Degree (Honours) or a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Current membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and/or the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists preferred
- Minimum one (1) year of recent, related clinical experience; two (2) years preferred
- Effective skills in critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution
- Ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team
- Experience in clinical teaching and ability to supervise/train students in occupational therapy
- Time management and the ability to handle multiple competing priorities
- Ability to be self-directed, self-reflective practitioner
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt positively to constantly changing clinical situations
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite and corporate productivity tools (i.e. Cerner, Onechart, Infomed)
- Proficient in splinting, preferred
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
