University Hospital In-Patient Cardiac Care 

The Inpatient Unit at University Hospital provides exemplary care of cardiac patients requiring cardiac diagnosis and treatments including heart surgery, delivered in a cohesive, cooperative, and integrated manner. The physical and psychosocial needs of the patient and family are supported on an ongoing basis.  The Cardiac Program supports and participates in ongoing research, quality improvement and multi disciplinary activities.

Regular Part-Time 

Rate of Pay: $39.07 per hour - $56.00 per hour

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course:  BLS-HCP(C)
• Minimum six months recent general cardiology experience
• Demonstrated competency  in interpreting ECG arrhythmias
• Demonstrated communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to change in a dynamic environment
• Demonstrated effective organizational skills involving time management and prioritization
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently as well as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to establish effective relationships with patients, families and members of the health care team
• Demonstrated behaviours supporting our Core Values of Respect, Trust and Collaboration
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and self directed learning
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:  

• Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 
• Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;  
• Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);  
• Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
