Occupational Therapist-Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program – Eating Disorder Services

The Occupational Therapist is accountable for providing Occupational Therapy services within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program – Eating Disorder Services at Children’s Hospital. The Occupational Therapist will provide a range of assessment, intervention, and consultation services within inpatient and ambulatory settings. The Occupational Therapist will work within an interprofessional model of care.  All duties and responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist conform to the professional practice standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and hospital guidelines.

Regular Full Time

Rate of Pay:               $42.55  per hour - $53.18 per hour

Hours of Work:           37.50 hours per week

Qualifications

 
  • Graduation from an accredited University Program with a Baccalaureate Degree (Honours) or a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Current membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and/or the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists preferred
  • Clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of child and adolescent mental health populations including those with eating disorders
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical interviewing and psychotherapy skills
  • Skilled at crisis intervention and assessment
  • Expertise in providing treatment within a group modality
  • Expertise in providing individual mental health treatment
  • Experience in clinical teaching and ability to supervise.train student in occupational therapy
  • Demonstrated competencied in interpersonal relations, communication (verbal and written), problem-solving, initiative, sound judgement, innovative practice and ethical desicion-making
  • Strongly developed spirit of inquiry and interest in furthering evidence informed practice
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as an interdisciplinary team member
  • Demonstrated competence in organization skills and effective time management
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;  

  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);  

  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
