Job Summary

 

Located at LHSC University Hospital, the Centre for Clinical Investigations and Therapeutics (CCIT) is an established, dedicated clinical research space and service provider offering a full suite of clinical research services to Lawson Investigators.  The Research Administrative Coordinator will play a crucial role in facilitating and managing various aspects of the day to day operations in the CCIT.  The role will also support research financial invoicing for the Research Support Services team and interact in a collaborative manner with research team member to align project support that is based on timelines, priorities and efficiency.

This position reports to the Manager of the Lawson Clinical Research Services team

Rate of Pay:                    To commensurate with experience

Hours of Work:               Regular Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

 

Qualifications

 

 Required:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in an administrative support role, preferably in research or project management in an Academic Health Care setting
  • Experience using financial tracking systems, invoicing and account reconciliation related to clinical research
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with electronic data databases
  • Requires excellent interpersonal, organizational and planning skills to work effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to follow hospital procedures and privacy regulations around dealing with patients and patient data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written format, using general and scientific language
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Good judgement, initiative, tact and professional attitude in the workplace
  • Adaptable, flexible and resourceful
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams, e.g. including faculty, staff, students and residents
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail
  • Ability to function in a team environment that requires adaptation to changing organizational needs and re-prioritizing workload to accommodate shared priorities
  • Ability to maintain strict confidence as required for the role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in the conduct of Industry sponsored clinical trials is an asset
  • Certification in Good Clinical Practice
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, execute and manage several competing projects
  • Knowledge of local REB requirements and Lawson approval process an asset
  • Certification or willingness to be certified TDGs – Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Familiarity with hospital or health care policies and procedures

Responsibilities

 
  • In collaboration with the Research Services Manager, oversight of the daily activities taking place in the CCIT (Onsite)
  • Management of the web-based unit specific patient visit booking system, including the reception of research patients, Cerner registration  and the alignment of services required for the safe and compliant conduct of the research visits taking place in the area
  • Research financial reporting which may involve the creation of study budget quotes, overall study budget review, research invoicing, and account reconciliation.
  • Collaboration with Lawson Researchers, Study Sponsors, and Research Administrative staff to ensure the smooth conduct of research being conducted in the CCIT space
  • Financial reporting for the Research Support Services team by tracking activities using multiple shared tools and folders
  • Clerical functions related to office supply ordering, purchase orders for team, calibration of core equipment and CCIT review committee meeting bookings
  • Follow up on all CCIT access requests from New Users and timely follow up on all support requests

Immunization Requirements

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
