The Research Admin Assistant supports the assigned research team in the conduct of laboratory based or clinical research studies under the direction of the assigned leader.

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Management of leaders/team calendar(s), provides administrative support in organizing, scheduling and attending research meetings. Assists with coordinating onsite or offsite events including marketing, registration, catering, technology and speakers. Assists with maintaining documentation binders pertaining to research study participants and projects. Oversees clerical functions related to office supplies, mail, filing and equipment; overseeing inventory, purchases, services, etc. Administers/monitors research related billing procedures and financial transactions such as invoicing, cheque requisitions and expense tracking /reporting. Supports the preparation of the research groups operating budget. Assist with the orientation, training and timekeeping of research staff and students.
  • Answer enquires; triaging and directing to research staff as appropriate with discretion and judgement of urgency. Maintains office inventory; reconciling received goods against orders to verify accuracy. Oversees maintenance requests. Maintains up-to date records and files of all research admin duties. 
  • Verifies/reconciles financial reports, investigates/reports and discrepancies; Initiates payment of all expenses incurred.
  • Assisting with research project planning, budgeting and start up activities, gathering information and documents for Research Ethics Board submissions, performing basic statistical analysis, and ensures appropriate follow up with research participants and project team members.

Temporary Full Time

Rate of Pay:          $25.25 - $31.56 per hour

Hours of Work:     Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Duration:              12 months, possibility for renewal

Qualifications

 
  • Education required; undergraduate degree, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years recent related experience in a similar role; preferably in a research environment 
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Personable and courteous in working relationships;
  • Self-driven and proactive with good organizational, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills;
  • Flexible and willing to learn and adapt to different work assignments in a team setting;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidence, exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proven ability to follow processes with a high attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
