London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute (LHSCRI) provides scientific leadership aligned to the strategic plan and clinical strengths of LHSC.  Discovery-based scientists, clinical investigators, practice-based researchers, research staff and learners are supported through LHSCRI's Office of Research Services and Research Operations Office.  Research Operations are focused on integration of research in the hospital, and direct research support.

The Translational Research Centre (TRC), as a part of The Department of Children's Health Research Institute (CHRI), is seeking an experienced and motivated clinical research individual for the role of Research Coordinator at Victoria Hospital. This individual will be responsible for screening and enrolling patients for a variety of research studies, processing human samples, shipping and transportation of biological samples locally and abroad, data collection, maintaining database of participant data and biological samples, assistance with ethics research reports, development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ordering reagents, budgeting, as well as responsible for day-to-day laboratory operations.

Rate of Pay:           $34.40 - 43.00
Hours of Work:       37.5 hours per week 
Duration:                 Up to 12 months

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a recognized undergraduate or master's degree in a relevant and/or related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience working in a laboratory and clinical research setting
• Experience with clinical laboratory procedures (blood and other sample processing)
• Experience supporting the preparation or collecting of for study-specific health sciences research ethics board (REB) requirements including application, amendments, and continuing ethics review
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, M365, and REDCap 
• Knowledge of computer software including PubMed, reference software, databases
• Effective leadership and communication skills to foster a respectful, inclusive and collaborative environment
• Ability to implement and coordinate aspects of multiple clinical study including coordination, ethics reports, data and sample collection
• Ability to organize workload and manage daily competing priorities in a health care environment;Ability to collaborate with the Director of the TRC's Centre, primary investigators (PI), co-investigators, physicians and other multidisciplinary health care team members
• Completion and maintenance of LHSCRI training requirements for clinical research including Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Transportation of
• Dangerous Goods (TDG), and Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCP)
• Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills     
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
• Ability to perform work in accordance with LHSC policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety, Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans, and the Province of Ontarios Personal Health Information Protection Act.
