Job Summary

 

Reporting to the Principle Investigator, the Research Coordinator provides day-to-day supervision of research staff and students, ensuring completion of tasks and compliance with training and organizational policies and procedures while establishing efficient study workflow and processes.

The Research Coordinator supports an Investigator team lead by Dr. Vipul Jairath in the Department of Medicine in implementing academic research studies related to Inflammatory Bowel Disease by developing timelines, resource requirements, and budget projections.  The successful candidate will oversee the completion of REB applications and renewals, support the development of study protocols, study feasibility, be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and interpreting research participant/trial information, and use professional risk assessment skills to respond appropriately and proactively to issues/problems that may arise.  The role will also support study monitoring and quality assurance visits, liaising with study participants, research and clinical staff, and external stakeholders in the conduct of research studies while ensuring compliance with research study protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.

Rate of Pay:             To commensurate with experience

Hours of Work:        37.5 hours per week

Duration:                  One year with possibility of renewal

 

Qualifications

 
  • Bachelor’s level degree in health research methodology, health science, or related field
  • Certificate in clinical research (clinical trials certificate/diploma, Society of Clinical Research Associates, Association of Clinical Research Professionals) an asset
  • Five years of experience conducting industry sponsored and/or investigator-initaited research studies     
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ICH GCP, Health Canada regulations, Lawson SOPs, TCPS2, and REB processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and REDCap      
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills    
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with high attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
