REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (RPN)
Part-time, Temp Part-time and Casual Opportunities Available
Rate $32.37/hr
Position Summary: Receiving direction from the Nursing Supervisor or designate RN/RPN in charge, the registered practical nurse is accountable and responsible for administering medication/treatments to the Sisters in the Care Centre according to the College of Nurses standards of Practice and in keeping with the policies provided by CareRx Pharmacy. Contributes to the various aspects of the Sisters’ care by assisting the Nurse in charge with daily assignments and treatment. The RPN ensures that all health and safety standards are met and adheres to infection control practices and continually reinforces as necessary.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must be available to work all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays and has a willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as required, based on operational needs.

Qualifications:
- RPN and a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Pharmacology certificate. Must be willing to upgrade nursing skills as required.
- 2 years related nursing experience preferred, preferably with 1-2 years in gerontology in a health care setting.
- Mechanical skills including the use of mechanical lifts, wheelchairs and equipment relevant to the RPN role.
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Performing repetitive functions including heavy lifting, bending, standing, walking, pushing and pulling.
- Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
- On occasion may accompany Sisters to outside appointments or social outings. Must be flexible and able to adjust to daily changes, based on operational requirements.
- A police record check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate
