Reporting to Manager, Risk and Privacy, the Privacy Associate is engaged in auditing electronic patient records for privacy breaches.  The Privacy Associate assists the other members of the Privacy Department with the investigation of potential privacy breaches and Freedom of Information requests.  In addition, the Privacy Associate facilities the privacy intake process and directs calls and e-mails to Privacy Consultants and completes privacy audits.

Qualifications

 

As the ideal candidate, you have:

  • Successful completion of a two (2) year diploma in Health Informatics, Business Admin or equivalent acceptable by hospital
  • Privacy, Access, and Information Management Certificate preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years recent, related experience, preferably in a health care setting
  • Proficient knowledge of health privacy legislation in Ontario (Personal Health Information Protection Act – PHIPA), and the role for the provincial Privacy Commissioner
  • Demonstrates confidentiality and respect for privacy of patients and staff information
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Cerner Patient Care System
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a changing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Purpose and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:
