Full Time

St. Joseph's Pain Management Program is an ambulatory outpatient medicine team specializing in the treatment of complex chronic pain conditions with the goal of assisting individuals to reach optimal health and well-being. Our interdisciplinary team works together to provide patients with comprehensive assessment diagnoses, treatment and self-management strategies.

The Social Service Worker supports patients to optimize their self-care capacity and self-care resources related to housing, food security and assistive devices. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary Pain Management Program team, the Social Service Worker will assist in navigating the many systems and resources available to the patient to support them in their management of chronic pain.


Essential Qualifications

  • Social Service Diploma from an accredited Community College
  • Valid registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • Ability to establish therapeutic relationship with patients and families
  • Superior interpersonal skills and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to obtain information through strong investigative skills
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and build collaborative relationships with the team and community resources
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
  • Experience working in an inter-professional team within a health care setting
Teaching and Research
  • St Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. As an employee of St Joseph's you will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties
Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (primary series, boosters and/or XBB) OR one dose of XBB vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date.
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
