Temporary Part Time
Salary Range: $27.86 - $27.86 /hour


We are hiring nursing students for Summer 2026!

Temporary position from May 1, 2026, and continuing until September 30, 2026, subject to the availability of work.

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) will assist the interdisciplinary team to provide care with the activities of daily living to patients. This is a great opportunity for nursing students to gain experience in a hospital setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse.

Specialized Geriatric Services Inpatients includes the following services at Parkwood Institute:
-Geriatric Rehabilitation Program: providing rehabilitative care for frail older adults
-Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Unit: providing musculoskeletal rehabilitative care to adults of all ages
-Amputee Rehabilitation Unit: providing rehabilitative care for adults who have experienced limb loss.

This is a temporary opportunity anticipated to extend May 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026, subject to the availability of work. It is understood that the hours of work reflect the current scheduling arrangements and are subject to change as determined by the Employer.



Essential Qualifications

  • Completed at least one year of education in either a Baccalaureate or Practical Nursing Program
  • Completed clinical placements within a hospital or long-term care setting, as part of the nursing program
  • Returning to complete baccalaureate or practical nursing education in Fall 2026
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Ability to provide full assistance with the activities of daily living under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse
  • Ability to apply effective body mechanics and lift and transfer skills to meet heavy physical demands
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and the ability to work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
