We are recruiting a Contracts Consultant who is passionate about collaboration, problem-solving, and protecting organizational interests through thoughtful contract management and risk assessment.
In this role, you'll work closely with leaders, physicians, researchers, operational teams, vendors, legal partners, and external partners to review, negotiate, and develop contracts that support the delivery of healthcare, innovation, research, and strategic initiatives across LHSC. You'll serve as a trusted advisor, helping teams understand risk, navigate contractual obligations, and identify solutions that enable the organization to move forward with confidence. Whether you're negotiating contract terms, developing risk mitigation strategies, supporting leaders through complex agreements, or creating tools and templates that improve consistency and efficiency, you'll play an important role in helping LHSC advance its priorities while safeguarding the organization from legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk.
What You'll Be Doing
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analysis, negotiation, relationship building, and problem-solving. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide variety of contracts, agreements, and related documents.
- Partnering with leaders and partners across LHSC to assess contractual risks and identify practical solutions that balance organizational priorities with risk mitigation strategies.
- Providing expert guidance on contract language, liability, insurance requirements, indemnification provisions, and risk exposure.
- Collaborating with internal and external partners, including insurers, legal counsel, vendors, research organizations, and service providers.
- Participating in contract negotiations and supporting stakeholders through complex decision-making processes.
- Developing and maintaining contract templates, waivers, and standard terms and conditions that improve consistency and efficiency across the organization.
- Supporting education and awareness initiatives related to contract management, liability, risk, and emerging best practices.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance contracting processes, improve organizational standards, and strengthen risk management practices.
- Preparing reports, recommendations, and risk assessments to support operational and leadership decision-making.
What We Offer
Status: Regular Full-Time
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $40.17 - $50.23 per hour

You are skilled at building relationships, navigating competing priorities, and translating technical or legal concepts into practical guidance that others can understand and apply. You bring strong business acumen, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Most importantly, you understand that effective contract management is about more than legal language. It's about creating agreements that support organizational goals while appropriately managing risk.
As the Ideal Candidate, You Have:
- University degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field acceptable to the Hospital.
- Three to five years of related experience in contract management, risk management, healthcare administration, legal administration, procurement, research administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Contract Manager, Alternative Dispute Resolution certification, or membership with the Law Society of Ontario are considered assets.
- Strong experience reviewing, negotiating, and drafting contracts and agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to assess risk and develop practical mitigation strategies that support organizational objectives.
- Advanced knowledge of risk management principles, including risk assessment, loss prevention, insurance, and liability considerations.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex information and make sound recommendations.
- Experience negotiating agreements and facilitating discussions among multiple stakeholders with differing perspectives.
- Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures, particularly within healthcare environments, is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient and family-centred care.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient and staff safety.
